The total budget, which has been approved by the Parks and Recreation Commission , the Board of Finance and the Representative Town Meeting, will be fully funded by Longshore patrons through increasing greens fees, Fava said in a letter to the Board of Selectmen. Refurbished 11 years ago, the 94 sand traps strewn across the course are not equipped with liners at their base, resulting in traps littered with rocks. The steep slopes and the deteriorating lips of the bunkers are also in need of renovation, according to Parks and Recreation Director Jen Fava . The focus of this project is really to improve the maintenance, as well as the player experience, Fava said. After the design services are completed, a formal bid will be put out for construction services. Golf Design Unlimited will assist the town in evaluating the bids. Fava said her department inspected the golf course at Redding Country Club that Golf Design Unlimited worked on.
