MASON CITY Nearly 800 high school students and educators spent Thursday morning getting hands-on experience with future career options at NIACC. The school hosted its first Explore 2016 event focused on promoting careers in agriculture, communications, health sciences, human services and education, manufacturing and other skilled trades. NIACC spokeswoman Valerie Zahorski-Schmidt said the school hoped the event would boost student interest in careers where North Iowa is seeing a labor shortage such as health care, building trades and diesel mechanics.
